The Wyoming Geographic Information Science Center (WyGISC) is offering a free, half-day workshop on using the Wyoming Natural Resource and Energy Explorer (NREX) web-based planning support software application.  Released in mid-2016, NREX is designed to support pre-planning development considerations by enabling discovery, analysis, and assessment of energy, environmental, cultural, socioeconomic and infrastructural assets for user-defined, project-scale areas of interest in the state.  The application is meant to be accessible by non-GIS professionals with a minimal amount of training requirements.

This is the first in a series of instructor-led training offered across Wyoming during 2017 by WyGISC in an effort to raise awareness about the information content and functionality of the NREX application.  The training is open to all interested individuals and should be particularly useful to natural resource managers and specialists, local government planners, environmental consultants, and economic development practitioners.

Because space is limited, pre-registration is required for this event. To register, please access the following link on the NREX website: Please be sure to select “NREX Demo RSVP” in the contact category drop-down menu, and mention the Lander event in the message box. You will receive a confirmation within 24 hours of your registration status. Please note that or registration will close on Wednesday, March 23rd, or when the class capacity has been reached (max 18).

NREX was developed by the Wyoming Geographic information Science Center for the Wyoming Governor’s Policy Office. Funding for NREX is provided by the Wyoming Business Council. To learn more about NREX, please visit
